Roger Smith News; The Panman Report
During my last trip to Spain I learned of the oracle octopus, Pulpo Paul. Apparently a german octopus predicted the victors of every game in the German bracket and eventually predicated Spain to beat Holland in the finals. It was mayhem in Spain as this was their first ever World Cup victory.
“Shoot, for all I know, animals all over the world have always been calling the games….. Pulpo Paul is the man”
Phoebe Knowles
The owner of Pulpo Paul would not sell his golden goose but would the clairvoyant Octopus to a Spanish citizen with the understanding that his transportation costs would be covered and that they would not prepare “A la plancha”.

What is the strangest Sports tradition that you know of? While in Spain, I purchased Spain World Cup Soccer limited edition Tshirts that I will present to the first five people who share their story in the comments section of this blog.

Love can be painful to swallow. In this blacker than black comedic treatment of a lost romance, director Daniel Brothers touches on more than just pain caused by lost love. Coping is just half the battle.

About the Roger Smith Shots
With support from Ghetto Film School, Brooklyn Brewery and the Roger Smith Hotels patronage to the arts, the Roger Smith Shorts 09 (Festival Workshop) was conceived. The concept was envisioned as a collaboration of creativity and ingenuity among visual storytellers and those who form the structure behind it.
Forward fashion, clothes that actually fit, independent designers, AND 10% of our profits go towards supporting economic development initiatives for women and children.
Inspired by women who love color and lead an active lifestyle, Animated Closet is something new, fresh and truly unique. Drawing comparisons to Custo Barcelona and Desigual, with an emphasis on creativity and individuality. At the epicenter of their look is an upheaval of contrasting patterns and colors. The prints and patterns are splashed boldly across our asymmetrical skirts, fun tops and outerwear, and flattering dresses.
Their creative process is collaborative- working with different artists for artwork, print the fabrics, and then cut clothing from the newly printed material. They only print a limited amount of fabric so everything is a limited run. In order to reduce waste as much as possible, they create their own patchwork skirts and pants from the leftover pieces of fabric.
They carry sizes small thru extra-large to ensure that a broad range of body types can enjoy. Vibrant and colorful, Animated Closet kicks any wardrobe up a notch!
A whimsical reinterpretation of mistaken identity, Director Dmitry Povolotsky explores this classic subject matter focusing his comedic vision on a hotel maid, a diva actress, and her lover.

There was a moment when a mixtape was gestures of friendship… well, probably more than friendship. In fact it was a gift predominantly made from a male to a female or vice versa, that indicated a common interest in music and style. You sought to impress through your taste in song selection, sequence and novelty. Past mix tapes read like a chronology of ones past experiences.
In the classic compilation, “We both know why you are here” mix, my brother James crafted an arrangement of sexy songs with objective of setting the perfect mood. The mix was designed to start off innocent enough… only to progress so that at the perfect moment for both parties would happen to a great soundtrack.
Speaking of my brother’s influence, I want to introduce DJ Jimbo to the scene. Undoubtedly the product of some grimy beats this kid is destined for music genius. With practice and guidance from uncle Panman, this kid will be creating hot tracks before his second birthday.
My objective is to sort through this collection of tapes and sample the best moments into a new compilation. With a sense of the history of the music and the people who listened to it, I will dive into it with style and grace. To keep the listener intrigued and excited with anticipation for each consecutive track is an objective.
Who gave you your first mix tape? What did it mean to you? What was on it? I am interested in hearing about you past music experiences. Please comment, share and engage.
